Former Harrisburg Area Community College Vice President Nancy Rockey was sentenced Tuesday to 15 months in prison for  stealing more than $228,000 in school funds, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg.

Rockey, 55, was employed at the college for 31 years until she resigned in Feb. 2012.

In Oct. 2013, Rockey was charged with using a credit card issued by HACC, to make online purchases of Target gift cards which she then used to purchase non-work-related items for herself, her family, and her friends, according to a news release. She then created bogus invoices and later submitted them to the HACC Finance Office, to conceal the unauthorized purchases.

Rockey is charged with purchasing approximately $228,000 worth of gift cards with her HACC credit card, according to a news release.

At the time of her resignation, Rockey was Vice-President of the Harrisburg campus and Vice-President of College and Community Development.
