Folks in York County hit the ski slopes for some winter fun but with cardboard boxes.

The event is part of Ski Roundtop's Annual Cardboard Derby, a toy themed, hand crafted, sled made out of cardboard boxes.

In order to qualify, users were only allowed to use cardboard, tape, glue and paper. Some took a week to create, while others spent months on their cardboard creations.

"Very rarely do you get the opportunity to take all sorts of cardboard and run it out in the snow. It snows every now and again, but to get this opportunity every year to plan all year to get your craft together.... I'd say it's pretty thrilling." said Sam Krepps Marketing and Events Coordinator.

Each craft was judge in 2 categories, Artistry and Distance.

Organizers say the secret to s successful board is simply trial and error.
