Southern regional police have arrested a man after they say he hit a police officer with his truck when he was leaving the scene of a fight.

Stephen Hewitt, 44, of Beaver Falls, was arrested on Wednesday at his home after police say he was involved in a fight that took place on January 27th along the 1st block of Fox Hollow Road in Conestoga Township.

According to police, when an officer approached Hewitt he sped off in his truck hitting the officer with his side mirror. Police continued to chase Hewitt for a short distance but stopped due to safety reasons and icy road conditions.

The officer that was hit was not seriously injured.

Hewitt is now being charged with felony aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding police, recklessly endangering another person along with other traffic violation.
