A tractor-trailer crashed into a house on Route 194 in Hamilton Township back on January 9th.

No one was injured. But the house is now condemned and engineers still have not determined how to safely demolish it. The truck is now holding the house up.

“They’re not really sure until the engineers get through, whether the whole building will fall down, or just that portion will fall down,” says Beard.

Township Supervisor Tim Beard says the challenge is to keep people out of the unstable house. The roof alone is several inches higher than it was before, and part of the truck is dipping into the basement. Crews drained its fuel tanks.

It’s not yet clear which insurance company will pay for the demolition. The next step is for an engineering team to come out and analyze the site.

“Hope it can be before spring comes and before we get anymore snow,” says Beard.
