A Dauphin County Christian camp is digging into the beginning of a new project on their grounds. Camp Hebron in Halifax will be adding a new riding stable and indoor arena to be housed in a barn at the camp. The $400,000 barn will hold 23 stalls and the arena will be used for lessons, summer camps, educational programs, clinics and seminars for our local horse enthusiasts. It will be a staging area for our guided trail rides.

The new barn will be a tremendous asset not only to Camp Hebron and its camping programs but also to the local community. The Horsemanship Program directly impacts hundreds of youth each and every year, building strength, confidence, a sense of responsibility and value. Special, well trained horses are used for Trail Rides, Hand Led Horse Rides and Riding Lessons. Horsemanship campers are also afforded the opportunity to pursue riding skill certificate through CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association).

"We've been running the horse program for a long time, and it's hard to run during weather like this in the cold winter months and so to have a facility that's going to help us run the program all year round is really going to improve our proficiency in the program and to have an outreach throughout the year," Camp Executive Director Dustin Musser said.

The new barn has been in the planning stages for three years. Weather permitting-- the project is expected to be finished by spring.
