Philadelphia picked to host 2016 Democratic National Convention

Philadelphia will host the convention where Democrats will nominate their candidate for the 45th President of the United States.

DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced Thursday that the city will host the 2016 Democratic National Convention the week of July 25, 2016.

Governor Tom Wolf called the announcement tremendous news for Pennsylvania in a recent press release:

“The birthplace of our democracy will host the Democratic National Convention in 2016, which will generate hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity in the state,” Wolf said in a statement.

“We look forward to working with local leaders to ensure that Philadelphia will shine in the national spotlight.”
