The first city firefighters arrived minutes later to heavy smoke and flames that spread to the second and third floors. A second alarm was struck which brought in Mutual Aid partners from surrounding communities.  The fire was finally declared under control at about 6:09 pm but not before it heavily damaged the second and third floors. Damages are estimated to be in excess of $70,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Six adults and four children are being assisted by the Red Cross.
