COLDEST AIR IN A YEAR:  The arctic air that arrived overnight may be some of the coldest air we’ve seen since last January!  Out the door this morning, wind chills are below -10°, so be sure to warm up the cars and bundle up before heading out.  Winds are 15-25mph out of the northwest.  Today, we’ll see some sunshine as the winds slowly fade.  Highs top out near 20°.  Overnight, we drop to the middle teens.

VALENTINE’S DAY:  We’ll bump up our highs to near 30° as some slightly warmer air advances in front of a clipper system.  Expect mostly cloudy skies.  Snow showers arrive toward evening and we could see a 1-3” range, with best chances for higher amounts to the north.  So make sure you’re ready to deal with some light snow for your evening plans with your sweetheart.  Winds will pick up really quickly as we move toward late evening when the next arctic front rolls in.

RECORD COLD AIR:  Late Saturday into Sunday, the gate opens again for an arctic intrusion.  We’re talking northwest winds at 25-35mph into Sunday morning with gusts up to 60mph!  Meanwhile, temperatures will dump into the single digits and wind chills drop to below -10°.  The blustery cold air assault continues for Sunday with highs only in the middle teens and chills still below 0°.  Overnight into Monday morning, we may break a record with lows nearing 0° and wind chills nearing the -20° mark.  Dangerous chills make for a rough start to your Monday.  Wind chill and high wind watches are out beginning Saturday night.

PRESIDENTS DAY:  We’re still cold for the holiday with highs only in the middle teens, despite some more sunshine.

NEXT WEEK: By Tuesday, we’re back to the upper 20s.  We’re watching a storm system which continues to trek south as we watch more model runs come in.  We’ll keep the chance for some snow showers in for now.  Wednesday, we’re in the 20s again with more arctic air for Thursday with highs in the upper teens.

Have a great weekend!
