A York County family is settling in to a new home, designed to meet the special needs of their young daughter.

5 year old, Emilee Heilman, suffers from a rare and deadly brain disorder called Alexander’s Disease.  She also suffers from Kawasaki Disease.  Most of the time, she is bound to a wheelchair and has limited speech.

The family’s condo has created a lot of challenges in caring for Emilee.  So, her grandparents built on to their home and even added an elevator to accomodate her.

Emilee’s mother, Jennifer, says they have more space in their new rancher sized house, about 1,700 square feet of it.

The project cost more than $125,000 and took about four months to complete.  They call it “Rasin the roof for Emilee.”  The family is also trying to raise awareness of Alexander’s Disease through a campaign called “Love, live, hope.  Prayers 4 Emilee.”
