The cold temperatures have brought a dry spell to one Dauphin County community.

Many residents at the Chesapeake Estates Mobile Home Park in Grantville, Dauphin County have no water. It’s been like that since the temperature dropped on Monday.

The owner of the park says the wells and pumps are working. But he says too many people are running their taps to keep the pipes from freezing. It’s a gravity-based system, not pressurized, so the homes at higher elevations can’t get the water.

The owner says residents need to stop running the water through the pipes, and he wants to let them know that. Residents aren’t happy with how the problem is being handled.

“Nobody told us a thing,” says neighbor Pat Sattazahn. “In fact the first day, they should have put a notice on our door, but I come home from work, no water.”

Management says all of the homes will get water meters this summer.
