YORK COUNTY, PA (WPMT)  Northern York County Regional Police arrest and charge Michael Lawson Witte,19, of  Spring Grove in a series of home burglaries and attempted burglaries in Jackson Township.

On December 8, 2014 a resident reported that she had left two purses in the kitchen area of the home when she went to bed.  She was awaken by her dogs barking at 1 am.  She discovered in the morning that the purses had been taken. They contained cash, credit cards, and identification for the victim. It is unknown how the subject or subjects made entry to the home.

Last month on January 16, at about 10:19 pm police responded to a call from the first block of N. Alpine Rd in Jackson Township. The caller told officers that he had arrived home from work about 35 minutes prior to calling.  He was checking his surveillance system and saw that a male had attempted to open up his rear house door. The suspect appeared to be a white male, smoking a cigarette and wearing tan cargo pants and a gray hoodie. The male did not get into the home.

Then at about 10:51 pm a second caller from the same block reported that he arrived home after work and found that someone had entered his home and took a 50 dollar bill from a basket he had on the counter. There  were no signs of forced entry, however the homeowner said that items were moved and lights were on that he normally does not let on.

A resident of Summit Run Court in the same neighborhood reported that she had saw a male walking through her back yard at 10:20 pm. When she confronted the male he ran off towards the village of Nashville.

Charges against Witte include Burglary, Criminal Attempt Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Theft by Unlawful Taking and Receiving Stolen Property.
