Joe Sestak to challenge U.S. Sen. Toomey
Joe Sestak (D) formally will announce Wednesday he’s seeking a rematch against U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey (R) in the 2016 election.
He’ll make the announcement at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
Sestak ran in 2010 and lost in a close race to Toomey. He is a former Navy admiral and served in the U.S. House for two terms from 2007-2011, representing a suburban Philadelphia district.
Toomey is in his first term in the Senate and previously served three terms in the House.
