HARRISBURG, PA (WPMT) As of 8 pm this evening, PennDOT has lifted the speed limit restrictions that were in place since 9:30 am on several roadways in the eight-county region of south central Pennsylvania.
Due to the winter storm impacting the region, speed limits were reduced earlier today to 45 mph on Interstates 78, 81, 83, and 283, as well as sections of U.S. 11, U.S. 15, U.S. 11/15, U.S. 22/322, U.S. 222, Route 283, and Route 581 in the region. All speeds are restored to their usual posted limits.
PennDOT is continuing to treat roadways in the area and will continue until roads are clear.
Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles, by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 700 traffic cameras, 94 of which are in the Midstate.
511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
