DERRY TOWNSHIP (WPMT)-A man wearing a fedora and black trench coat robbed a bank in Derry Township Friday morning, police said.
Officers responded to the M&T Bank branch located at 1661 East Chocolate Avenue shortly after 8:30 a.m. for a robbery.
Employees told investigators that a man entered the foyer of the bank and tried to open the locked door. When staff told the man the bank was closed– he forced his way inside and demanded money from the bank tellers, police said.
The suspect put the stolen cash in a grocery bag and was last seen fleeing through several residential yards along East Derry Street.
The robber is described as a light skinned African American or Hispanic man, 6 feet tall with a slender or medium build. He was last wearing a knee-length black trench coat, dark colored pants, black boots, a gray fedora style hat anda black scarf wrapped around the lower portion of his face.
No weapon was displayed, but bank employees told police he said he had a gun.
