Some Lebanon residents were evacuated from their homes this afternoon because of a gas leak.
UGI received a call of a gas odor coming from North 12th Street, around 12:30 Friday afternoon. Upon arrival, UGI asked the fire department to help them. Crews found the source around 1:45 p.m. coming from the 300 block of North 12th Street. The leak has been repaired- no one was hurt.
Lebanon Deputy Fire Chief, George Brossman says, "This could have been a bad scene. If the gas found an ignition source, it could have taken up a whole block."
Deputy Chief Brossman says around 12 people were evacuated from their homes.
