Lebanon police say Antonio Hernandez, 16, ran into a Norfolk Southern train Friday morning. He later died at the hospital.
Police say Hernandez crossed the tracks on a daily basis.
The accident happened around 6:40 Friday morning at the tracks on North 7th Street. Police say Hernandez was taken to a local hospital where he died. A preliminary investigation determined a westbound train struck the teen as he crossed the tracks. A witness indicated the warning gates were operational. Police say the teen was struck as he ran across the tracks.
Police are looking for additional witnesses to the incident. Norfolk Southern crews were at the scene throughout the morning, checking to make sure the gates continue to operate properly.
The teen was a student at Lebanon School District. School officials say grief counseling is available.
