HARRISBURG, PA (WPMT)  Mayor Eric Papenfuse is expected to to issue a “Call to Action” on Tuesday for area businesses and non-profits to provide summer jobs and internships for Harrisburg students.

“We want to place at least 50 Harrisburg high school students in 50 jobs or internships this summer,” Mayor Papenfuse said. “We are calling on all area businesses to help us meet this goal and provide opportunities for the city’s youth.”

The city will help match students with companies and organizations providing jobs and internships. And the city also will provide jobs and internships for Harrisburg youth this summer.

More details of the plan are expected at a news conference scheduled for Tuesday morning in the atrium of the MLK Government Center
