With the official start of spring just a few days away, we can all look forward to knowing that warmer weather is on its way.

But, along with the warmer temperatures also comes another busy season of road construction.

PennDOT crews will continue work on several projects over the next few months which could cause some headaches for drivers in our area.

One project scheduled to get underway is in Middletown Dauphin County.

That’s where major detours will go into effect Monday morning along Route 230 as crews begin to replace water and sewer pipes beneath the street.

Trucks and most traffic will be detoured from Main Street to Route 283.

Construction will move in five stages and detours will shift with each phase of the project.

Work on the project is scheduled to be completed in August.

Another project will be the widening of North Hills Road at the intersection of Market Street.

The project will eventually create two northbound lanes as well as one southbound lane for North Hills Road.

The work will continue throughout the week but perhaps the biggest impact on drivers will be March 23rd.

Starting at 7:00 a.m., the ramp from North Hills Road to 83 will be closed for a week, forcing drivers to find alternate routes.

PennDOT is reminding drivers to be alert and slow down as they make their way through these construction zones, not only for their own safety but for the safety of all road crews.
