LANCASTER, PA (WPMT)  A Lancaster City couple face charges in the brutal beating of an 11 year old boy.  Lt.  Todd Umstead says the mother of the child, Renee Hoskins, 42 and his stepfather, Kenneth D. Hoskins, 43 are charged with Felony Aggravated Assault of a Child and related counts. The incident allegedly happened last week on March 19 inside the family’s apartment in the 400 block of South Queen Street.

Police say the child was punched, kicked, choked and beaten with a belt.  The next day officials at Price Elementary School, where the child’s a student, noticed the injuries and informed social services.  The child was examined at the hospital and was determined to have suffered broken ribs along with cuts and bruises.

Kenneth Hoskins was arrested on March 20, arraigned and released after posting $100,000  bail.  Hoskins admitted to beating the child.  Renee Hoskins was arrested yesterday, arraigned and released on $50,000 unsecured bail.

The child is in custody of Lancaster County Children and Youth.
