LANCASTER, PA (WPMT) Two 17 year old juvenile males are arrested on stolen car and gun possession charges.  About 1:24 am Monday morning two City Police Officers attempted to  stop a 1999 silver BMW in the 200 block of South Queen St. The car pulled into a parking space and the driver and passengers got out and fled on foot.

Both were caught in the 1st block of West Farnum St. after a short foot pursuit. Both were identified as are 17-year-old male city residents. Two handguns were visible inside the vehicle, a Bersa .380 semi-automatic and a Ruger .22 semi-automatic. Further investigation revealed that the BMW had been stolen from the 700 block of Stevens Avenue earlier in the evening.

As a result of the investigation Juvenile #1 was charged with Person not to Possess Firearms,  Possession of a Firearm by a Minor, Firearms not to be Carried without a License, Possession of a Small Amount of Marijuana, Receiving Stolen Property, Loitering and Prowling at Night, Criminal Trespass, and Curfew.

Juvenile #2 was charged with Person not to Possess Firearms, Possession of a Firearm by a Minor, Firearms not to be Carried without a License, Possession of a Small Amount of Marijuana, Receiving Stolen Property, and Curfew (S)

Both Juveniles were on Probation for prior felony adjudications that included Possession of a Firearm by a Minor.

The arrests are the 18th and 19th arrests for firearms related charges brought by the Lancaster City Police this year.  City Police say it will continue to proactively pursue and prosecute persons illegally possessing firearms.  Officers are currently patrolling the city, searching for arrest #20.  Investigations into several shots fired

The Average age of the 19 defendants charged so far this year is 21 years old. Nine of these subjects are under the age of 20. As of this date, 11 of these individuals are incarcerated at either the Lancaster County Prison or the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center.
