Two teens were robbed at gunpoint in Lancaster. It happened on March 23rd,  in the area of the 200 block of N. Broad Street. The victims said they were walking north on N. Broad Street when they were approached by a male who had a black revolver. The suspect pointed the handgun at both victims and demanded they give him their belongings. The victims surrendered their cell phones, wallets and money.

The suspect fled the area on foot and entered the front passenger side door of a maroon-over-tan Subaru Outback station wagon. This vehicle was being driven by another male. One of the victims was able to obtain a partial vehicle registration before the vehicle fled the area.

Police were able to identify the vehicle and develop two suspects, one being the owner of the Subaru Outback. These suspects were later positively identified as the persons who committed the robbery. Police obtained warrants for:

Jimmy Pierre, 16-year-old male, Lancaster City resident (identified as the individual with the handgun)

Joan Manuel Rodriguez-Taveras, 18-year-old male, resident of 100 blk. N. Broad St. Lancaster (identified as the driver of the Subaru).

Pierre was charged with Robbery and Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Persons not to Possess Firearms, Firearms not to be Carried Without a License and Possession of Firearm by a Minor. Since Pierre used a firearm during the commission of a Felony (Robbery), these charges were a direct file (meaning Pierre is being charged as an adult) as approved by the Lancaster District Attorney’s Office.

Rodriguez-Taveras was charged with Robbery and Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.

Rodriguez-Taveras was arrested without incident by Lancaster City Police Officers (B Platoon) after he was seen driving the Subaru Outback on Friday afternoon, March 27th. He was committed to Lancaster County Prison.

B Platoon officers also assisted in arresting Jimmy Pierre, who was taken into custody without incident Friday evening at the Red Robin Restaurant in the 2300 blk. of Lincoln Highway. East Lampeter Township Police also assisted in this arrest. The gun believed to have been used during the robbery was later located at Pierre’s home. Both suspects were committed to LCP, both in lieu of $200,000.00 cash bail. Also, the gun charge on Pierre is the 21st firearms related charge of 2015 brought by the city police.
