SHAMOKIN — Police say three men were allegedly dealing and using drugs in a day care facility in Northumberland County.

The men, Ryan Varano, Christian Kehler, and Frederick Russo, were in the center after hours. Police were called to the facility Saturday night when Kehler overdosed on heroin.

Investigators say syringes and drug residue were found on tables and chairs meant for children inside the facility.

Jesus’ Lil Helper’s Daycare is owned and operated by Verano’s mother Kelley Ebersole.

Verano told police he deals drugs there, and stays at the facility on nights and weekends.  His mother told WNEP that her son has a drug problem, and he broke into the day care.  Ebersole told WNEP that she plans to press charges against her son and everyone involved.

Ebersole says the facility is open, and was cleaned and inspected by the state Department of Human Services. According to Ebersole, the parents of the children that attend the day care support her.

Kehler remains in the hospital and Russo was arrested Tuesday. Police are still looking for Varano.

The three men face a long list of drug charges.
