York County Commissioners Steve Chronister, Doug Hoke and Chris Reilly today appointed Jacqueline Brininger as the new director of York County 911.

Brininger is a 15-year veteran of the agency. She will replace former Director Julio Mendez, who stepped down Jan. 9.

“I’m extremely excited about the opportunity to serve the community in this new capacity,” Brininger said. “It’s an honor to lead a dedicated and hard-working group of individuals so committed to public safety.”

Brininger started her career with the County in June 1999 as a 911 dispatcher. She was promoted to a shift supervisor in 2004 and then into her most recent role as a lead shift supervisor in 2009.

“Jacqui is widely respected for her professionalism, understanding of 911 operations and leadership qualities,” said York County Commissioner Doug Hoke. “She’s a great fit for the job.”

Brininger said her primary goal at 911 is to continue its excellent service to the community. She’ll take a lead role in the implementation of text-to-911, expected to launch later this year, and the new 911 radio system (expected to go live in 2017).

Brininger has extensive training in 911 operations and emergency management. She was born in Korea and raised in Texas. She moved to Pennsylvania in 1996.

She and her husband live in East Manchester Township. They have two grown children.
