Kids in the city of York were able to cast a line for the 16th annual William Shaffer Trout Fishing Derby. The city's parks and recreation department hosted the event this morning at Kiwanis Lake. Dozens of families came out for the kids-only derby to celebrate opening day of trout fishing. Organizers provided the bait and there was also a measuring station. Everyone seemed excited to get out for the first time this season.
There were also prizes awarded to the person who caught the largest trout.
