A battered and neglected puppy is making a full recovery in Columbia, Lancaster County.

It seems fitting to name him "Lucky."

Dr. Robert Bartlett says, "If he had been dragged longer, he could have broken bones or could have been fatal."

Bartlett's a Vet at the Columbia Animal Hospital. Police brought the pup to his care after he fell victim to abuse. Police in Columbia are looking for a woman who's suspected of animal cruelty. Police say a witness saw the dog tied by a rope around his neck in the back of a white pick-up truck along the 300 block of Maple Street. The dog fell from the truck and was briefly dragged. Then the woman exited the truck, cut the rope and drove off.

Dr. Bartlett says, "Very outrageous and can not be tolerated at all."

For now, he's quite content with his caregivers.

Dr. Bartlett says, "Some local skin treatments, neuter him and vaccinate and heartworm medication, basic health package and get him started to a good life."

His story's becoming quite popular on Facebook. He's even made it onto a page dedicated to placing abandoned animals into forever homes. It's called Help Find Sophie. Organizers say the site is also a way to raise awareness.

Kenny Enck, of Lancaster, found the pup on Help Find Sophie. He says the sites a great way to help animals find actual home.

Kenny and his wife filled out their application papers after seeing his story.

He says, "Every dog needs to find a home, we'll be happy if we can keep this dog."
