LOWER PAXTON TOWNSHIP (WPMT)-Police are investigating after an apparent “swatting” incident in Lower Paxton Township on Wednesday night.

Officers responded to a home along the 3800 block of Club Drive around 7 p.m. after a man called 911 claiming he was holding two people at gunpoint. Police say when they arrived, the homeowner told police everything was fine. That’s when officers discovered that they were dealing with a hoax. Investigators believe this was a case of “swatting,” when a fake emergency call is made.

Police said “swatting” occurs all across the country, wasting law enforcement’s time and money.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lower Paxton Township Police Department at (717) 657-5656 or the anonymous Tip-Line at (717) 724-8317.
