Along Penn Street, in the city of Harrisburg, police officers prove there can be peace, and fun, between them and the children who live there.
Yesterday, a neighbor shot cell phone video of the kids shooting hoops with officers.
The video was posted online and it’s receiving thousands of positive responses in the midst of intense riots and protests in Baltimore.
Representative Patty Kim (D-Dauphin) applauds the efforts. She's working with Police Chief Thomas Carter to make sure the kids have a new hoops and basketballs to play with in support of the police-youth basketball initiative.
Rep. Kim says, "This is the way to make sure Harrisburg doesn't turn into Baltimore. And the officer's been doing this all the time but we caught him on tape and why not celebrate it?"
Chief Carter says, "We would say what's going on around the country is not the norm, but what you saw over the video of Josh playing basketball, that's the norm because police officers care."
Children say they're thankful for the new hoop and excited to play more with the officers.
