SPRING GROVE, Pa. – A 24-year-old man is facing criminal charges after police said he fraudulently accessed people’s bank information by placing a skimming device on an ATM in York County last year.

Jeshua Paonessa-Velez, of York, is charged with identity theft, access device fraud and possession of unlawful device making equipment.

Paonessa-Velez was identified as the driver who placed a skimming device on an ATM in Spring Grove between Oct. 28 and Nov. 2, police said.  Skimmers read magnetic strips on a card and saves the unsuspecting victims data on an internal memory card.

Authorities are still looking for his accomplice that was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

All victims have been identified and reimbursed by the bank, according to police reports. It is unclear how many people had their credit card information stolen.

Anyone with information on the second suspect is asked to call Det. Sgt. Lisa Layden at 717-255-1333 ext. 115.
