SHREWSBURY, Pa. -- Sad news in southern York County, a 5-year old boy who was struck by a box truck, has died.
The accident happened around 1:00 Saturday afternoon in the area of 39 East Forest Avenue in Shrewsbury. Police say Caiden Hammond, of Stewartstown, ran out onto the roadway and was struck by a large box truck. He was taken to York Hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the truck stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.
The accident was reconstructed by Southern Regional Police officers, along with state troopers and officers from Spring Garden Township. The investigation is ongoing, however according to the York County coroner's office, it is being considered an accident. No autopsy will be preformed.
