HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will begin work on Front Street in Harrisburg starting Monday morning.

The road will be reduced from three lanes to two between Shamokin and Herr Streets.

Work will begin at 9:00 a.m.

The construction will include tree removal, resetting granite curbs, constructing curb ramps that are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and replacing storm drainage inlets.

Road repairs and resurfacing will be made to a two-mile one-way stretch of Front Street from Division to Paxton streets. The road repair and resurfacing contract also covers Paxton Street, from Vine Street to just short of Cameron Street, and South Second Street, from Paxton Street to the railroad bridge that sits just south of Harrisburg Hospital.

Work is expected to be completed by mid to late June.
