MILFORD, Pa. — Attorneys for the man accused of killing one Pennsylvania State Police trooper and injuring another have withdrawn their request for a change of venue.
Eric Frein’s lawyers had asked to move the trial out of Pike County after District Attorney Ray Tonkin sent out a re-election campaign mailer that included Frein’s picture. The flier reads “We can trust this man,” referring to Tonkin, “to prosecute this man,” referring to Frein.
Frein is accused of ambushing two state troopers outside of the State Police barracks in Blooming Grove Township.
His lawyers say the may re-file the request to move the trial at a later date.
