MARTIC TWP., Pa. – A 56 year old Pequea man is killed after a tree falls on his moving pickup truck. It happened at about 4:19 pm Tuesday afternoon along the 1000 block of Pennsy Road, Martic Township, Lancaster County.
State Police say the man was traveling west in a 2012 Chevrolet Colorado on Pennsy Road when the tree on the south side of the road fell. The falling tree struck the front driver side door of the pickup denting the roof. Following impact, the pickup went off the north side of the roadway and hit a mailbox.
The truck continued across the grass about 15 before slamming into a tree causing major front end damage. The force of the impact also bent the pickup’s frame and broke its rear axle.
The tree also brought down power lines along the road knocking out power to about five PPL customers.
The white male was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lancaster County Chief Deputy Coroner. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
