HARRISBURG, Dauphin County – There have been three murders in Harrisburg over the last nine days. Police say the latest occurred around 11:30 Saturday night in the 100 block of S. 14th Street in Allison Hill. They are now searching for Dominique Baines, 23.

Police believe Baines shot a 21 year old woman in the forearm and killed Cordell Nash-Matthews, 26.

“He didn't deserve that. It's just terrible. He's so loving, so caring” said the victim’s friend, Erica King.

Erica King says Matthews was like a brother to her. He was also a father to 2 and 6 year old boys. She and many others created a mural outside of where he was shot. People in attendance say Matthews was protecting his sister who was involved in an altercation. She was shot in the forearm and was later released from the hospital.

“She's doing better. She's recuperating” said King.

Matthew’s murder was one of two weekend shootings. Sunday morning around 2:20, the City of Harrisburg Police say five shots were fired near N 2nd and South Streets. A 25 year old man was injured. He is expected to recover; it is unknown if he was targeted or if the shots were random. It all happened in front of multiple businesses.

“I was sitting here grilling kabobs having a good time making money and then all over a sudden 4th of July people running trying to get inside. Never seen anything like it” said Doug Mcketa, manager of 2nd Street Shawarma Mediterranean Cuisine.
Mcketa wants the violence to stop.

A reward of up to $2,000 is available for information leading to an arrest and conviction in either case.
