EMS workers do so much for the community on a daily basis, but not many people know much about their job. This week, from 3-5 p.m., you can get a sneak peek into that world during a special event in Lancaster County.

It's all part of National EMS Week. The national event brings local communities and medical workers together to publicize safety and honor those who give "day-to-day" lifesaving services of medicine's "front line." On May 20, Northwest EMS in Elizabethtown will host the event at the Northwest Station. Lori Shenk, a provider with Northwest says it's also opportunity to showcase what other EMS are doing across the state.

Shenk explained that part of their event showcases "hands-only" CPR as well as other demonstrations and preparation that can help an ordinary person take a step towards saving someone's life.
