OCEAN CITY, Md.–Two Lancaster County teenagers were arrested Saturday after stealing an ATM in Ocean City, Maryland, police said.
Authorities charged Austin H. Emerick 19, of Lancaster and a 17-year-old boy, of Millersville, with theft, malicious destruction and burglary. Emerick was released after posting $10,000 unsecured bail. The 17-year-old was released into the custody of his parents and referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.
Officers responded to Somerset Street and Baltimore Avenue around 4 a.m. for reports of a theft in progress.
According to police reports, investigators witnessed Emerick and the boy drive away with the ATM in the back seat of their vehicle. Police pulled the pair over and discovered the ATM had been stolen from a nearby parking lot.
Officers searched their vehicle and found a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
