HARRISBURG, Pa.– Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate for April is holding steady at 5.3 percent.
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry says Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate was unchanged from March, which is one-tenth of a percentage point below the U.S. rate of 5.4 percent. The national rate has declined by .8 percentage points over the year.
Overall non-farm jobs increased by 27,000 in April to a record high of 5,845, 800. Over the course of the year, total non-farm jobs were up 64, 400, an increase of 1.1 percent.
The growth was concentrated with private industries, the largest gains being in trade, transportation & utilities, leisure & hospitality, and construction. Only information and government have declined from last year.
