NEW HOLLAND, Pa. – Police charge a New Holland Borough man in connection with the hit-and-run last week that left a young skateboarder hospitalized in critical condition.

Joshua Padilla-Gonzalez, 20, is accused of hitting the 15-year-old at about 10:14 p.m. as the youth was riding his skateboard in the 600 block of West Main Street(Route 23) in New Holland.

Investigators were able to track down Padilla-Gonzalez after studying video footage taken by numerous surveillance cameras of businesses and residences along the street.  The information lead police to the discovery today of Padilla-Gonzalez’s car parked at his home.

During an interview, police say he admitted to being behind the wheel of his car at the time of the hit and run, driving while under suspension and leaving the scene of the accident.

Charges against Padilla-Gonzalez include accidents involving death or personal injury, accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed, driving under suspension and duty to give information and render aid.  Following arraignment he was sent to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $40,000 bail.
