HARRISBURG, Pa. — A veteran Harrisburg firefighter was arrested Sunday after authorities said he pointed a gun at police officers.

Matthew Duvall, 42, of Harrisburg, is charged with ten counts of recklessly endangering another person, receiving stolen property, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was arraigned Monday and taken to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Officers responded to the 1900 block of North Street around 11 p.m. Sunday after getting reports of a man walking around with a gun and threatening people.

Police arrived at the at scene and made contact with Duvall who was holding a gun. According to police reports, Duvall  went into a home along the 1900 block of North Street and then quickly walked back out. Duvall pointed the gun towards police officers and ignored commands to put the gun on the ground, investigators said.

After several tense minutes– Duvall dropped the gun and complied, police said. The gun Duvall was holding was reported stolen out of Swatara Township.

Duvall was off duty at the time of his arrest,  according to Harrisburg Fire Chief Brian Enterline.

He has since been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
