PENN TOWNSHIP, Pa - A century-old silo in Lancaster County has been put into motion-- becoming the largest silo in the U.S. to be relocated.

Crews at Kreider Farms in Penn Township inched a 100-foot-tall grain silo along the distance of about three football fields. It now stands tall at its new location at the farm entrance, where it will serve as a way for visitors to take in the scenic views of the farm while learning about agriculture.

"The main objective, once again long term, is for us to be transparent and promote agriculture locally and around the world," said said Kreider Farms' Ron Kreider, "and help try to pull the people into the farm so they can see how modern day farming is."

The 480,000-pound concrete silo has not been used in several years. Kreider says the farm plans to put up a spiral staircase and platform along the outside of it for viewing.

"The view will be amazing," Kreider said. "It's been many years since I was up there. We met here six months ago to see what kind of view it was, and I made it half-way up and my knees started shaking, so, I know you can see for miles."
