PEQUEA TOWNSHIP, Pa.–A 31-year-old volunteer firefighter was charged Tuesday for having inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old firefighter last year, police said.

Joseph P. Gura Jr., of Willow Street, is charged with indecent assault and harassment.

According to police reports, Gura had inappropriate contact with the girl and harassed her. Both Gura and the girl were volunteer firefighters with West Willow Fire Department. The alleged incident occurred at the fire department located at 192 West Willow Road in Pequea Township between Nov. 2014 and Dec. 2014, authorities said.

The investigation came to light in Feb. 2015 when Lancaster County Children and Youth contacted the the Southern Regional Police Department to report the incident.

Police filed charges Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge William E. Benner Jr.

A preliminary hearing date has not been set yet.
