PHILADELPHIA — A former Penn State student who was a member of a suspended fraternity has filed a lawsuit against the university.

James Vivenzio says university officials ignored complaints he made about sexual assault, hazing, and drug use in the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity. In the lawsuit, he claims he went to police eight months after making the allegations to university administrators. Vivenzio says he was forced to drink alcohol and be burned with cigarettes, among other practices.

Penn State recently banned the fraternity for three years after it was discovered the group had a secret Facebook page that contained pictures of naked or unconscious women.

The national Kappa Delta Rho fraternity also announced it has removed 38 Penn State members from its organization.
