CARLISLE, Pa. — UPDATE: The Cumberland County Courthouse has reopened and the roadways are also open.  The package was examined by the Pennsylvania State Police and found to be non-hazardous.

Law Enforcement and the District Attorney’s office are speaking with an individual regarding the package and any further information regarding this incident will be released from that office.

A suspicious package prompted the evacuation of the Cumberland County Courthouse on Tuesday morning, according to Cumberland County Public Information Officer Megan Silverstrim.

Police are currently on the scene investigating, Silverstrim said.

Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area of Courthouse Square.

No other details were immediately available.
