YORK, Pa. - As we get older, our bodies change hormonally and it gets harder to control weight gain, stress responses, and to regulate our hormones. But health experts say there is a way to help control those responses.

Hormones act as chemical messengers in the body which regulate things like appetite, weight gain, and body temperature. My Fitness Quest in York has teamed up with Naturopath, Dan Duryea to take a natural approach to dealing with hormones.

"[They] can wreak havoc on your body," Duryea said, "There are those who work themselves to death to control their diet and they find that they're not able to get their bodies in the shape the way they want them to be, and it has to do with their hormones being imbalanced."

Duryea suggests a natural approach to dealing with these problems.

"There are some wonderful plant-based hormonal creams that can  you can apply to the body as well as supplements," he said.

Mindy Quesenberry, one of the owners of My Fitness Quest, says since following Dan's advice, she has seen a change.

"I'm over 40, and health is really important to me and natural remedies are important for me," Quesenberry said. "I've had some issues with inflammation, I've had issues with my stomach, and I have to tell you, some easy fixes, even with nutrition, have made a world of difference."

Quesenberry and Duryea will be holding a seminar on Saturday at 10:30a.m. with more on this topic at My  Fitness Quest on 2498 East Market Street in York.
