Bill to name Interstate exit to honor PSP Cpl. Bryon K. Dickson,II headed to governor’s desk

HARRISBURG, Pa – Exit 30 off Interstate 84 in Pike County will soon be named in memory of Pennsylvania State Police Corporal Bryon K. Dickson, II,  who was killed at the Blooming Grove barracks, approximately one mile away from that interchange along Route 402. Legislation designating the exit in honor of the fallen trooper was unanimously approved today and sent to the governor for his signature, according to Senator Lisa Baker (R-20) who sponsored the bill.

“This designation provides a permanent memorial to the exemplary life and service of Corporal Bryon K. Dickson, II, and will serve as a constant reminder of the risks and sacrifices on the part of state troopers as they strive to protect us,” said Baker.

Dickson was shot and killed in the line of duty on September 12, 2014. Trooper Alex Douglass was also shot and severely injured during the horrific event that led to a 48-day manhunt for the alleged shooter, Eric Frein in Pike and Monroe counties.r

Baker said that by naming the exit for Corporal Dickson, motorists will always remember the Marine and state trooper who bravely served his nation, state and community.

Arrangements for a formal dedication ceremony are pending.
