LANCASTER, Pa. – A dance team coach faces multiple sexual assault charges involving a 15 year old girl. The victim reported the assaults to Lancaster City Police over the weekend.

The juvenile said that she had been a victim of ongoing sexual assaults from 2013 through 2104. She told police that she met Jose Manuel Rivera-Vasquez, who was 38 at the time, in September 2012.  He subsequently asked her to try out for a dance team which he had been coaching. Rivera-Vasquez operated a dance studio in his home at 410 S. Ann St.

The victim stated that starting in October/November of 2013 through December of 2014, Rivera-Vasquez performed numerous, almost daily sex acts on her in the attic of his home. The victim was 14 years old at the time these assaults began.

Following an intensive investigation throughout the day Sunday, City Police Detectives, led by Detective Lt. Sonja Stebbins, in conjunction with the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit and County Detectives, Detective Lt. Stebbins charged Rivera-Vasquez, now 40, with Statutory Sexual Assault, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Unlawful Contact with a Minor, Corruption of Minors, and Indecent Assault and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Rivera-Vasquez was arrested at his S. Anne Street on on Sunday evening without incident. He was arraigned and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $500,000.00 cash bail.
