HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The Capital Area Transit Market Square Transfer Center in Harrisbug will be getting redesigned.

Transit officials announced a project to improve the layout of the center. The changes will include new crosswalks, a new kiosk with a ticket machine and updated bus schedules, and seating for outdoor dining.

Officials say the changes will make it easier for people to walk around, while also making the center more visually attractive within the city.

"The design calls for a really nice upgrade to integrate the transfer center into Market Square," says Capital Area Transit spokesperson Robert Philbin. "We're looking to trigger some revitalization into Market Square as a result of this plan."

The renovations are expected to be finished by the end of the year.
