LANCASTER, Pa.–A 25-year-old woman faces attempted homicide charges after she shot a woman Lancaster City on Saturday night, police said.

Denise Heckstall, of Lancaster, is charged with criminal attempt to commit homicide, aggravated assault, and persons not to possess, use, manufacture control, sell or transfer firearms.  Police said Heckstall has a prior felony conviction and is not allowed to possess firearms in the state of Pennsylvania. A warrant has been issued for Heckstall’s arrest.

Heckstall is accused of shooting a 25-year-old woman in the torso outside Hoffman Terrace, near the 200 block of West Mifflin Street, on June 27.

The victim was taken to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment, investigators said.
