A group of Scouts are helping honor a piece of History in Gettysburg.

The BSA Venture Crew 1861 provided field music at a wreath-laying at the Garibaldi Guard Monument Ceremony on the Battlefield, Sunday.

The 39th New York Infantry Regiment, made up mostly of Italian immigrants, is known as the Garibaldi Guard in honor of Giuseppe Garibaldi.

He's considered to be a major figure in the unification of Italy.

The regiment distinguished itself on the second day of the battle of Gettysburg.

They took part in a charge that re-captured a Union battery that had been over-run by Confederate Troops.

The ceremony is sponsered by the York Lodge 548 of the Sons and Daughters of Italy.

Frank Iati says, "There is so much history here in Gettysburg.  It's everywhere you turn.  So many stories like our little story is just a piece of the battle.  There's probably hundreds of thousands of stories."
This is the 12th year the ceremony has been held.
