LANCASTER, Pa. -- An event in Lancaster Monday night discussed the implications of the Iran nuclear deal.

The Lancaster Alliance for Israel held the rally at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Yaron Sideman, the Israeli Consul General for the Mid-Atlantic region, was the keynote speaker. Members of the Alliance are concerned that easing sanctions against Iran could lead the country into more violence and terrorism.

"Iran has indicated they are going to aggressively pursue their goals of Islamic revolution. I think inevitably that's going to provoke backlash," said Donald Feldman, who helped organize the event.

Leaders from the United States and five other countries recently reached an agreement with Iranian leaders that will eventually end the U.N.-imposed sanctions against Iran. Today, the United Nations security council approved the agreement.

President Obama says the U.N.'s approval shows there is a broad consensus that the agreement is the best way to ensure that Iran does not get a nuclear weapon.

"I think it will send a clear message that the overwhelming number of countries who not only participated in the deal, the P5+1, but who have observed what's happened recognize that this is by far our strongest approach to ensuring that Iran does not get a nuclear weapon," he said.

The deal is drawing some criticism from American lawmakers, who now have 60 days to review and approve the deal.

Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA) said in a statement "This is a bad deal, poorly negotiated, and flawed from the start.  And now it has been rubber-stamped by foreign nations, many of whom do not have the United States’ best interests at heart.  The American people deserve a thorough review of the proposal, which is what I trust Congress will do in the coming weeks."
