LANCASTER, Pa.- It is a bumpy ride in the Lancaster area. The National Non-Profit Transportation Group, TRIP, declares Lancaster roads are some of the most deteriorated in the country.

In a release the organization explains, twenty-seven percent of major roads, in the Lancaster urban area, are considered to be in poor condition. The roads are costing area drivers $547 each year . Driving on rough roads can damage vehicles, reduce fuel and impact tires.

"Pot holes everywhere, especially in the city, everyday there's a different road that's closed or a different road that's one way and you don't know what it's going to be even driving across the city," said Lancaster City resident Beth Valentin.

The state passed a major transportation funding bill two years ago . It aimed at patching potholes and building bridges. TRIP argues progress on improving the state's roads could stall out if Congress doesn't pass a transportation bill of its own.
